Friends of HGS
The Friends of Heckmondwike Grammar School have one aim – to enhance the education of the students at HGS. We raise funds for “extras” such as specific school projects and additional resources which fall outside the normal school budget. We do this by…
- Organising social functions and supporting school activities developing the relationship between parents and school
- Running an annual raffle and the 59-Club
- Engaging in fundraising and other activities which support the school
- Providing a forum for consultation between the Head Teacher and parents
In recent years we have funded a variety of things, such as student water coolers, 3D printers, a trophy cabinet, sports kits, tents for DofE, a new piano and a lighting rig in the Hutton Studio, amongst other things.
All current parents / carers and staff are automatically enrolled as a Friend and in addition we welcome former members of staff, former students, present and former governors and members of the local community.
Meetings are held once each term, starting with an AGM in October, and all Friends are invited to attend and have their say in any meeting.
